Ingredients
THE CRUST, MELT
- 2 Sticks unsalted butter (16 Tbsp.)
- ⅔ cup Packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. Bourbon
- ½ tsp. Table salt
- 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour
THE FILLING, HEAT
- ¾ cup Packed dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. Bourbon
- Sea salt
- 3 cups Coarsely chopped pecans, lightly toasted
- 2 Eggs, beaten
- ½ tsp. Table salt
- 1 tbsp. Pure vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp. Unsalted butter, cubed
- ¾ cup Pure maple syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment or foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang.
- For the crust, melt butter in a skillet over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until brown bits form on bottom of skillet, 20–25 minutes; remove from heat and let cool 5 minutes.
- Combine brown butter, brown sugar, bourbon, and salt in a bowl; stir in flour until combined. Press crust evenly into prepared dish; bake until lightly golden, 15 minutes.
The Filling
- heat brown sugar and maple syrup in a saucepan over medium. Cook filling, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes; let cool 5 minutes.
- Whisk in butter, bourbon, vanilla, and salt. Slowly whisk in eggs until incorporated. Stir in pecans and pour over crust.
- Bake bars until a toothpick inserted into center comes out mostly clean, 30–35 minutes. Transfer bars to a rack, let cool completely, then cut into bars.
- Cover and store leftover bars at room temperature, or refrigerate up to 1 week
