Cherry Milkshakes with Fudge Sauce

  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • ½ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup Heavy cream
  • tsp. Kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp. Unsalted butter
  • 2 oz. Semisweet bar chocolate, finely chopped
  • ½ tsp. Pure vanilla extract


  • 1 ½ qt. Vanilla ice cream 
  • 1 ½ cups Milk 
  • 2 cups Frozen pitted sweet cherries 
  • 1 tbsp. Fudge sauce 
  • ½ tsp. Pure almond extract 
  • Chocolate shavings,  optional
  • Pitted sweet cherries,  optional


The Fudge

  • Whisk together sugar, cocoa, cream, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook until sugar melts and sauce is smooth, then whisk in butter until melted.
  • Off heat, stir in chocolate until melted, then stir in vanilla.

The Milkshake

  • Blend ice cream, milk, cherries, fudge sauce, and almond extract in a blender on high speed until smooth.
  • Drizzle bottom and sides of serving glasses with fudge sauce, then pour milkshake into glasses. Top shakes with chocolate shavings and a cherry; serve immediately.
